Frankfurt April 11 2006

Made it! And not even tired... Not sure why as I didn't get much sleep on the plane... But at least I did sleep. I caught a taxi from airport on good advice from Barbara...On 35 euro... I managed to find a nice court yard in the sun to rebuild bike.. Have some snaps to load latter on... Bike when together well I only suffered 1 bruise...

at 6.30am it was 3.5 degrees here. The sun has a nice warmth to it when you can get in it in fact the sun feels warmer than Perth... But the air is cold. Should be fine for riding if I rug up.

General observations so far are:
  • Trees have no leaves
  • Generally everyone speaks English and its only my slang that makes it hard
  • Lots of bikes everywhere - no helmets

The part of Frankfurt I'm in is quaint. Get the feeling its a tourist area, lots of markets, small stores with specialists foods, good English

Plan for tomorrow is to start riding to Mainz on the Rhein. I have bike map and will study tonight

the hair dryers didn't work in Onslow, too much water - gas finally came thru - Mick & Scott worked all weekend to get Onslow back on. Work has been busy, though no impressed with skeleton staff - hasn't done anything since he's been in your chair, thinking of moving him to another location - maybe production will improve. Rohan appointed Business Development Manager in Commercial and Strategy Division (Frank's area) - no other news
take care and enjoy the ride

Great Fleur, glad to hear you are rolling and got everything together. Sounds like a good tip to get the taxi.
Take care on any icy or frosty roads you may encounter.

Hey Fleur, Really enjoyed Tassie-it was cold & wet but I loved it. Tried talking Randy into moving and running a B &B but he wasnt too enthused. Sounds like you are having fun...look after yourself. HP is still going so you still do have somewhere to come back to!!

Hi Fleur,
have really enoyed your travelogue - glad everything is going so well. Good idea to extend your time in Iceland - you don't want to rush it. I think I'll be in Prague around 14th July for a few days. I think I leave here about 12th July and return 2nd week of September. Will keep tracking you in case we can meet up! Take care - from Sarah
